August 22nd, 2008 by Kathy Hester | Filed under Women's Health. So you’re trying to cut down on carbs and calories? Well you can do that and have your marinara sauce too!
Tofu Shirataki Noodles is your answer. The ingredients are tofu and yam flour. They come in spaghetti, angel hair and fettuccine styles, and at 20 calories for a 4 oz portion (1/2 a package) you can have seconds!
Give them a try in Hungry Girl’s Fettuccine Hungry Girlfredo Veggie Explosion. She uses 1 package in a serving, making a pasta primavera for only 151 calories and 4.5 grams of fat! She uses Laughing Cow Cheese and fat free sour cream to make a light, creamy sauce.
Also try Susan’s Hot and Sour Shirataki Noodles with Tofu. And make sure to take her advice to rinse the noodles well, and boil them separately from your dish before adding them. They do have a strong smell when you open up the package, but rinse, boil and it’ll be gone in no time.
