Lying to the Doc is Hazardous to Your Health

May 30th, 2008 by yeahtips | No Comments | Filed in Women's Health

When you go to the doctor, even for a routine check-up, you should be 100% honest. Now, I know it can be difficult dishing the details on the frequency of your bowel movements (or their appearance, for that matter! Yikes!). It’s also hard to be honest about your sex life, how much you drink and your smoking habits. Sometimes you lie to your doctor without even realizing. For instance, you may not note that you take over the counter allergy medicine or painkiller once a week!

Failing to fill in your doctor on everything can lead to an inaccurate diagnosis, and even the prescribing of medications that could interact poorly with your current lifestyle. Not good, at all!

For more on this fibbing phenomenon, read the article over at Women’s Health Magazine.

A Little Bit of Alcohol is Good for Your Bones

May 25th, 2008 by yeahtips | No Comments | Filed in Healthy Living

It came out again on Friday that alcohol is good for you in a whole new way. You already knew that a glass of wine a day is good for your heart. But did you know that one drink a day can actually increase your bone density and reduce your risk of hip fracture?

According to a study reported by HealthDay News, light to moderate drinking reduces your risk of hip fracture. It was previously known that your risk of hip fracture actually increased with heavy drinking, but up until now, no studies were conducted to see the effects of light drinking on bone density. Turns out, the effects are positive.

It just goes to show that alcohol can be good for you, in moderation of course. So as this Memorial Day weekend gets going, don’t get too crazy, but don’t fear a drink or two. You might be doing your body good!

May 25th, 2008 by yeahtips | No Comments | Filed in Hot Offers

This is a dance workout for the whole body, featuring steps from India’s most popular films.

Bollywood has charmed millions and is now taking over the world’s fitness studios. Every day, more and more people dance and sweat to the exotic sounds of India.

Elements from Bollywood’s most popular films are choreographed into a new kind of workout, combining coordination, strength and stamina with Asian sensuality. You’ll dance bare-footed, using seductive hands and hips. Whirl a silk veil to the rhythm of the music or dress yourself with it like a sari!

Energetic and seductive!

Songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Bombay Dreams” and the Bollywood film “Indian Love Story – Tomorrow May Never Come” featuring Shahrukh Khan provide the music to 3 dances, each with an increasing level of difficulty and unique style which varies from playful and sensual to dynamic and powerful.

Each dance is introduced step-by-step, while a warm-up and cooldown shape the workout.

In movies, music and fashion, Bollywood is a trend. Bollyrobics™ will be loved not only by fitness fans but everyone who has been touched by the irresistable cinema of India.
